Pritish Nandy graces Arijoy Bhattacharya’s ‘Aghora Tech’ art show

Son of veteran artist Sanjay Bhattacharya, artist Arijoy Bhattacharya’s exhibition inauguration, though understated due to the Christmas festivities, garnered praise from distinguished attendees including poet-painter-media personality Pritish Nandy, veteran artists Nayanaa Kanodia, Gautam Mukherjee, and art enthusiast Ajaykaant Ruia.

Despite Christmas, the event attracted a multitude of visitors who marvelled at Arijoy’s artworks.

Titled ‘Aghora Tech’, the exhibition serves as an homage to the transformative journey in the Aghori community. This unique showcase delves into the convergence of two seemingly distinct realms: the minimalist Tantric paintings of Rajasthan, as chronicled in Frank Andre Jamme’s renowned book ‘Tantra Song,’ and the geometric precision of the Bauhaus movement, exemplified in the artistic legacy of the legendary Krautrock band Kraftwerk.

Besides the afore-mentioned guests, Arijoy’s family – father Sanjay Bhattacharya, sister and actress Sanjeeta Bhattacharya known for her role in the Shah Rukh Khan starrer Jawan and mother Bulbul Bhattacharya, were present on the occasion lending heartfelt support and encouragement to the young artist.

Arijoy Bhattacharya’s ‘Aghora Tech’ was on display at Gallery 4 of the iconic Jehangir Art Gallery in Kala Ghoda till 31st December, 2023.
